Unable 02:49
I am not corporeal like you I am only see-through Unable to be seen by him Unable to be felt by him My lungs taste the air of time My head burns to keep my thoughts in line Unable to be free from him Unable to be loved by him
2.
I am lost inside a tomb for two I'll hold this burden of uncertainty Cut beneath the skin and drain me dry I'll gladly share my marrow And I have spent, all of the earnings Taken from your pocket Taken from your pocket Taken from your pocket Carefully you fall out of view And scorch the earth with your body Longing for the days of solitude When our love was an artificial womb So I settled down on a quiet floor To be swept under the carpet Swept under the carpet Swept under the carpet
3.
Digital Sky 03:31
Driving up the hill to harbor side cliffs Wind whips your hair but your smile persists We head back to the car I ask you how you've been You say that you're fine but you just can't win It's been two years since I've seen your face Thought I would be different but the feeling's still the same Dreaming of your lips, cherry chapstick with a kiss You see through my lies -- I've been waiting for this Take all of my self 'Til there's nothing left Give everything back When we fall apart Sitting on the corner near the edge of all the tracks Trains rushing by on their designated paths We say our goodbyes -- I really thought that this would last We're just two dots on an endless map There's an ember smoldering inside the back of my mind I douse it with the fire of the passions of my life Now I only see you through the numbing of a screen The digital sky opaque -- a light unseen Take all of my self 'Til there's nothing left Give everything back When we fall apart
4.
Fade Away 05:38
The sun drips from the cracks on his forehead Watch my watery footprints Fade away Fade away Cut into me -- his body is a scalpel Dive like a dove and soar into the ether And fade away Fade away I don't know So show me how it goes Take my hand and take me where you go I just want to lie here, and lie with you today The silt washes up into his harbor Fills in my empty corners So I don't drift away Drift away Finally, I feel him in the darkness I grasp at the form and pull it in close So he won't drift away Drift Away I don't know So show me how it goes Take my hand and take me where you go I just want to lie here, and lie with you today
5.
Face for the radio A voice for a silent film Will I get to taste a piece of the party? My dreams are like a movie But just the parts that I can't see Light the way above me Bluish in the face of fate I cracked my computer screen Watched it spread like a virus Flickering endless like my mind How can I know if don't try? Face for the radio A voice for a silent film Will I get to taste a piece of the party? Thought if I moved towns I'd feel like someone else Echoes lie beside me -- reminders of the fiends I'd faced Cleaning out the coffee pot I don't even drink caffeine... Stimulate me so I don't die How can I know if I won't try? Face for the radio A voice for a silent film Will I get to taste a piece of the party?

about

Filled with a sense of self-discovery and longing, Gray Dens is an honest exploration of one’s identity and what it means to be queer in the digital age. Recorded throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Gray Dens was created digitally by two friends separated by thousands of miles and blends their distinct musical styles into a swirling amalgam of acoustic and electronic sounds. From the lilting, ethereal atmosphere of tracks like “Artificial Womb” and “Fade Away” to the propulsive drums and humming bass of “Digital Sky”, the EP never commits to a single set of tones or ideas, but rather, embraces subtle experimentation to uplift the otherwise undemanding pop song structures. The intricate production layers bright live instrumentation with a cold underpinning of digital flourishes and alien synthesizers to create a detailed sonic landscape.

The record’s themes trace a wide gamut of emotions and situations and span an entire journey of searching and acceptance in just five songs. There are moments of struggle and of feeling trapped (“Unable”), and memories of once intimate relationships now slowly disappearing behind the veil of social media (“Digital Sky”), but also more optimistic portrayals of new love (“Fade Away”) and looking inward to find the confidence to finally take a step forward (“How Can I Know”). In the end, Gray Dens is nothing more than an invitation – an outstretched hand for anyone in doubt of themselves and their worth to let them know they aren’t alone.
